Highlights – Yosemite Fires


The Yosemite Conservancy webcams have recorded many fires over the years. These include some huge naturally caused fires, controlled burns to manage future fire risk, and unfortunately man made fires that were not controlled burns. Below are some links and images to the time-lapse movies which captured some of these wildfires.


Sept 7th, 2014 – Meadow Fire

Caused by a lightning strike and required airlifting 85 hikers off of the top of Half Dome. Click on the image below for the time-lapse movie.

Sept 12th, 2016 – Ahwahnee Meadow Prescribed Burn

Very dramatic looking, but all part of keeping fire danger at a minimum by doing a prescribed burn of the Ahwahnee Meadow. Click on the image below for the time-lapse movie.
