Yosemite Time-Lapse

About this site: Hi Folks, thanks for stopping by. I started creating these time-lapse movies years ago after finding the Yosemite cams online. I had showed a few to the late Steve Medley, and he linked them to the Yosemite Association website. The first movies were all created manually, but I have managed to automate the whole process through the years.

The time-lapse movies are created by using Quicktime Pro to stitch together still frames from the Yosemite Association's web cams. The scripting is done using AppleScript, PHP and Ruby on Rails. If the cams are up and things are working, four new movies are created and uploaded daily.

I first fell in love with Yosemite after working there a few summers in the backcountry at Merced Lake High Sierra Camp. The movies help me remember what an amazing jewel "The Park" is.
